Babysitting Safety Course
Oil Capital Kiwanis began offering a course to students over 11 years of age to prepare them for the responsibilities of babysitting. We are very excited by this project because of the positive response we have had with from our trainees and their parents. Future classes to be announced.

We have active members fromCamrose and around different parts of Edmonton.

2021 Oil Capital Kiwanis Top Cop Award
Constable Daniel Tallack
Constable Daniel Tallack was nominated by his colleagues for his outstanding involvement with Edmonton's 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Daniel joined the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) in 2013. His experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community ad his understanding of the barriers they face, helped him develop empathy and compassion as a police officer, and build positive relationships and trust with the community members,
Daniel goes out of the way to assist those who have fallen between the cracks, and volunteers a significant amount of time mentoring and supporting youth, including those facing houselessness, addictions or mental health crises.
He is a dedicated volunteer at Camp fYrefly, the Chew Project OUTpost and the Youth Empowerment Support Services. He is also and advocate with the EPS 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group and the EPS Sexual Orientation, and Gender Identity and Expression Advisory Council.
Constable Tallack has gone above and beyond to improve community safety and wellness. By connection with 2SLGBTQ+ he has become a trusted role model and resource and an example of what positive policing can look like.

Kiwanis Member from Camrose
Sandra Dukes, our member from Camrose has made masks and sold them for a donation to support a Calgary Northmount Kiwanis Club project. The Northmount project is providing hand sanitizer for Calgarians who do not have homes. Sandra has raised enough money to purchase 100 liters of liquid sanitizer. Sandra donated over $14,000 from her mask sales to various charities in Alberta. Oil Capital Kiwanis presented her with the Mel Osborne award for her outstanding service to our Alberta Community.
Reading Library for Kids
Oil Capital Kiwanis Edmonton is collecting children's books to place in areas where children can easily take a free book, return it or drop a different one they are finished with into the box. If you have books to donate contact: Kiwanis@oilcapitalkiwanis.ca
